First Women Health Seminar

Held at local Restaurant Jeddah on June 1, 2007
Chief Guest: Mrs Masood Akhter (council General Pakistan).
The seminar was first of its kind in Jeddah arranged by the Women wing of PWS. Attended by a large number of women- a segment of community which usually have few outlet for social gatherings. They enjoyed a very useful gathering. Mrs. Arshad introduced the aim & objectives of PWS. Mrs. Mohsin Alvi conducted the seminar.

Second Women Health Seminar

Venue: Pakistan international school Jeddah. On July 3, 2008
Introductory remarks by Mrs. Riffat Arshad who is also organizer of PWS women wing.

A large number of women attended the seminars and applauded the effort of PWS in providing awareness about common diseases affecting women. Many joined the women wing of PWS.

4th Women health Seminar

Pakistan welfare society Jeddah organized its 4th women health seminar which was held in Pakistan International School Aziza on 13 Jan 2011 teaching staff of female section of school and huge number of Pakistani ladies from the town attended the seminar. The wife of Council General of Pakistan Consulate Jeddah was the chief guestDr. Nilofar Azra the gynecologist, in his lecture highlighted the importance of antenatal care and pregnancy related issues. Dr. Samreen Safdar, Diabetes specialist from King Faisal Hospital told the audience about the risk factors for diabetes including overweight and obesity, prevention of diabetes related complication and their management. Dr. Faiza Saleem, Cancer specialist from King Abdul-Aziz Hospital in her lecture highlighted the early diagnosis and treatment of common cancer effecting the women like breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and uterine cancer. Dr. Kauser, Gynecologist from King Faisal Specialist told the audience the common bleeding problem and their treatment. Also at this occasion, free blood sugar testing was done and blood pressure and weight of participants was checked and accordingly the physician advice was provided to them. Although the rain interrupted the seminar, the ladies really enjoyed the speeches and appreciated the Pakistan Welfare Society’s efforts for community welfare.

5th Women Health Seminar

5th Women Health Seminar was held at Pakistan International School Azizia Jeddah on Thursday February 9, 2012 at 6.00 PM

The seminar was preceded by a free checkup including Height, weight, BP & Blood glucose. The people were advice accordingly in a dedicated form (sample shown here)
The seminar was attended be a large number of ladies from the community including female teaching staff of school.
Dr. Sobia Raza conducted the seminar. In addition also delivered a lecture on osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency related problems and prevention.
Dr. Samreen Safdar talked about diabetes mellitus management and obesity related health issues.
Dr. Farzana iqbal highlighted the causes of various bleeding disorders of women and their management.

The chief guest appreciated the efforts the Pakistan welfare society (PWS) for welfare of community.

6th Women health Seminar

6th Women health Seminar
6th Annual Women Health Seminar was organized by Pakistan Welfare Society Jeddah on 28 December 2013 (SATURDAY) at Pakistan International School Azizia Jeddah, which was attended be a large number of ladies from the community including female teaching staff of school. Wife of Consul General of Pakistan Jeddah was chief guest.
The program comprised a panel of (4) female doctors – Dr. Rabia Khatoon, family consultant at King Fahd Hospital; Dr. Nilofar Azra, gynecologist and obstetrician; Dr. Farzana Iqbal, gynecologist and obstetrician at King Faisal Hospital; and Dr. Samreen Safdar, diabetes and endocrine consultant at King Faisal Hospital.
A number of other doctors and assistants conducted free medical check-ups and gave advice to the attendees on body mass index, weight, blood sugar and regular exercise.
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a welcome speech by chief guest Afshan Khokhar, wife of the Pakistan consul general.
Imrana Siddiqui, wife of deputy consul generalFarhat Naeem, vice principal of Pakistan International School-Jeddah (PISJ-Azizia), and members of the community attended the event.
Riffat Arshad explained the importance of health and regular check-ups, activities of PWS, which include free medical camps, school health services and scholarships for needy students, raising awareness through health seminars and the kidney transplant center near Abbottabad
Dr. Rabia Khatoon talked about common female cancers such as breast, uterus and cervical, their symptoms and the importance of timely check-up and treatment.
She explained that breast cancer is very common in women and the risk factors increase after the age of 50. “Early diagnosis is the key to survival, and there is a need to create awareness of screening and mammogram,” she said, and explained different factors of breast cancer as faulty genes, heredity, not doing breast feeding, late menopause, having children in late age and others.
She also explained that cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among women which can be easily prevented through regular check-ups of Pap smear screening and HPV vaccination.
Dr. Nilofar Azra explained anemia in pregnant women, diabetes or high sugar during pregnancy and importance of regular check-ups.
Dr. Farzana Iqbal explained the myth and misconceptions about vaginal discharge, the most common problem of almost all women of all ages.
Dr. Samreen Safdar spoke on diabetes and its problems, the importance of healthy and balanced food, and daily exercise as medicine alone is not enough to take care of the disease.
Mrs. Afshan Khokhar thanked all the doctors for the important information and assured them full support of the consulate for welfare work of the community.
The seminar ended on a good note for health awareness to the female audience and a positive message to the community as a whole. Light Refreshments were served later.

7th Women Health Seminar

Annual Women Health Seminar was organized by Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) on 7th February 2015 (SATURDAY) at Pakistan International School Azizia Jeddah.
This seminar was attended by a large number of ladies from the community including female teaching staff of school.
Wife of Consul General of Pakistan (Jeddah) Mrs. Afshan Khokhar was the chief guest. Mrs. Khokhar was welcomed by PWS Women Wing In-Charge Mrs. Fauzia Khan, Mrs. Riffat Arshad, Mrs. Zafar Jahan Ara, Mrs. Farhat Naeem (the Vice Principal) and Mrs. Aalia Anwar(Evening Session Head Mistress).
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran Hassan Khan and Naat-e-Rasool by Hafsa Nisar.
Mrs. Fauzia Khan gave a brief introduction about Pakistan Welfare Society and its activities for community like Fortnight Regular Free Medical Camps, Health Seminars for Men & Women, Career Planning Seminars for Students, School Health Services and Scholarships for needy students. She also informed that Pakistan Welfare Society is very near to the completion of its mega project of Pakistan Kidney Centre near Abbottabad (Pakistan), where free services shall be provided to deserved & destitute kidney patients. She told that Pakistan Welfare Society is regularly arranging Annual Health Seminars for Women to give them fresh awareness and advice about various diseases, women related disorders and their cures.
The Dr. Tahira Waqar gave awareness about Urine infections and its cures.
Asst. Professor of Batterjee Medicine College, Dr. Farah Nawaz elaborated the importance of Common Hygiene in the daily life.
Asst. Professor Gynecologist, Dr. Faiqa Imran explained the internal disorders of women and their treatments.
Dentists Dr. Khadija Aftab & Dr. Zeenat made their point on a topic “Gums & Diabetes has a Relation” and advised the audience to keep their teeth in a fine & healthy shape by exercising regular brushing and immense care especially after taking meals and sweets.
Expert Nutritionist, Mrs. Shamim Akhtar delivered a useful lecture on Food & Health taking into consideration the diet plans & regular exercise.
Chief Guest Mrs. Afshan Khokhar, admired Pakistan Welfare Society for arranging an informative and beneficial seminar for community women and thanked all the doctors, volunteers, school management and audience for their vigilant participation in this noble cause. She was very much satisfied to check the medical facilities provided in the seminar where a number of other doctors and assistants conducted free medical check-ups and gave advice to the attendees on body mass index, weight, blood sugar and regular exercise. She assured full support of the consulate for such exemplary welfare works to the community.
Appreciation Certificates were also distributed to Doctors & Volunteers.
An interesting Question/Answer session was also conducted and gifts were distributed to the ladies with correct answers.
Afterwards, the ladies from the audience directly consulted the doctors for various problems in order to get their expert opinion & guidance.
The seminar ended on a good note for healthy awareness to the female audience and a positive message to the community as a whole. Light
